I have been going crazy trying to figure out that knocking sound whenever the car crosses uneven planes (pulling into driveways that rise slightly, crossing large seams in pavement at relatively low speeds). It seemed as though anytime the suspension loads up unevenly in respect to driver/passenger side that the corresponding rear side of the suspension would knock just as you describe. I installed mine at the same time as my SPL coilovers, but attributed it to the top nut on the coilover not being tight enough, IIRC SPLs instructions said to hit it with a burst from an impact gun. Dont ask me how that nut could affect the car in this way, but I had no other possible explanation. I will have to take a look at mine now. Needed to go in for an alignment anyway as well as tires before year end.
